TIP-Roadway Construction Projects

City of El Paso, Texas The Transportation Improvements Program (TIP) is a local guide for budgeting and programming roadway and transit improvements by local officials, TxDOT, FHWA, and FTA.
The projects included reconstruction of George Dieter Drive (1.8 miles), a principal arterial roadway and reconstruction and widening of Lee Boulevard (1.4 miles), a minor arterial roadway.
The project was funded with State Transportation Funds, thus, managed through TxDOT - conforming to TxDOT and AASHTO standards.
Located in highly urbanized and congested areas of the city, complex traffic control plans and public involvement were used to minimize impacts to the area.
Improvements consisted of new asphalt pavement for roadways, concrete pavement at major intersections, curb & gutter, sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, driveways, storm sewers & ponding areas, illumination, landscaping, traffic signals at major intersections & signal interconnect.
Services included preliminary engineering & schematic design, right of way mapping, traffic analysis, intersection analysis, pavement design, categorical exclusion & envieronmental assessment, and PS&E. |
